July 30th, 2007 -

Our team followed Evelyn to her home to meet Gordon. Upon arrival Gordon enthusiastically greeted us. Still, his sickness was evident. It seemed to take all of his strength to talk. As Gordon spoke, we understood where Evelyn got her loving smile and gentle spirit. In a few short hours, we shared beautiful moments of both laughter and tears with Gordon. Even now, we cannot forget his words, "This precious daughter is the reason I fight to stay alive." Learn more about Evelyn and her father in this touching story album.

Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya -

Gut-wrenching sights and smells. Little water. Scarce food. Few government services. Disease. Abuse. Poverty beyond belief. Kibera may be Africa's most densely populated slum. An estimated one million people live within its confines. Half of these people are under the age of 18. Our team works to empower some of the most vulnerable people in Kibera - orphans and widows. We believe that the components for lasting, positive change are within the hearts and minds of individuals who are ready to sacrifice for the greater good. Experience more of Kibera in this story album.
